If you are currently without health insurance and have received a diagnosis of cancer, ask your physician if you are expected to be out of work for a minimum of 12 months. If so, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability. Once an application has been submitted you may then apply for Medicaid. Please note, it is unlikely that Medicaid will process your application until you have submitted an application with the social security disability office first. Many times hospitals have a financial representative who will help get all this peperwork started for you.
